Scares That Care is an all-volunteer charity founded in 2006. Net proceeds from all organization events are provided to the selected recipients.

The next scheduled event will be AuthorCon 3, which will be held from April 12 through 14, 2023 at the Doubletree Hilton Hotel in Williamsburg, Virginia.

The convention will include panels, author readings and signings. Special guests will include Aron Beauregard, John Langan, Gretchen Felker-Martin, Eric LaRocca, Carver Pike, Kristopher Rufty and others.

A Scares That Care film festival will also take place during AuthorCon 3, for the categories of Horror Short, Horror Features, Sci-Fi Short, Sci-Fi Features, Thriller Short and Thriller Features.
