Scares That Care is an all-volunteer charity founded in 2006. Net proceeds from all organization events are provided to the selected recipients. Every year, Scares That Care gives a gift of $10,000 to three individuals: a breast cancer patient, a burn victim, and a sick child.

The next scheduled event will be AuthorCon 4, which will be held from October 4 – 6, 2024 in St. Louis, Missouri at the Marriott Renaissance Airport Hotel. Author Brian Keene will host the event.

The convention will include panels, author readings and signings. Special guests will soon be announced.

A Scares That Care film festival will also take place for the categories of Horror Short, Horror Features, Sci-Fi Short, Sci-Fi Features, Thriller Short and Thriller Features.
